FIRST HALF MARATHON!!!!!
So I decided to do this today on a whim… My goal for my first half marathon had always been “under two hours.” Check out my time. ;-) (Although on my watch it read 1:59:59!) My first official half marathon is a week from today! Otherwise, looking forward to some easier (read: shorter) runs this week.

Jan. 24 - Jan. 28
Haven’t updated this in a while, been pretty busy with school work! I took it real easy this week in preparation for the 15k today at Newnan’s Lake. I did 3 miles on Tuesday and 3.5 miles on Thursday. I read that it’s good to reduce mileage before a long race, and it’s so true! The race today went really well! I’m REALLY happy with my 9:17 pace! I was shooting...

Did my ELEVEN mile run earlier today. This is the farthest I’ve ever run!  Thank fucking god the rest of the week is only 3 and 4 mile runs (never thought I’d say that). 15k (9.2 miles) race on Saturday!!

5k PR!
I had ONE goal for my running today: set a 5k PR.  AND THAT’S EXACTLY WHAT I DID. A whopping 8 seconds off my previous best time! I’ll take it. :-)

Soooo glad I did this today. I haven’t done a long run in a while.  I knew I wanted to run 9 miles, but I left my house without any idea where I would run—I think the path on the map makes that pretty obvious. Took it nice and slow, cleared my mind, and I even ran with a painful developing blister on my left heel (which turned out to be tiny, wtf!) In other news, I found out...

Forgot to post my run yesterday! And I did one today as well. So nice to have my foot and knee back in normal working condition! I missed you, Running! I’m back to being super excited about the 15k on Jan. 28th and the half marathon in February! I plan on running 9, 3, and 11 miles this week, and then ~3 miles every other day next week, leading up to the race. I’ve read it’s...

Awfullll run! My body was just not into it today. My whole right side from my shoulder to my hip was cramping up halfway through this. You can see on the map I stopped before I got home… I am CONVINCED that when it’s overcast out, I just do not run as well. It just puts me in an off mood!  Oh well, better luck tomorrow!

Cool Wolfram|Alpha Use
Go to www.wolframalpha.com and enter the amount of time you spent running on a run where you felt good the whole time—I entered “running for 45 minutes.” This should pop up. Just fill out the information. (This is normally used for calculating how far you went, but we’re interested in something else, just hold on.) After you’ve filled it out, just put the cursor...

(Very) Short Run Success!
Took a quick little jaunt (<1.5 miles) around the neighborhood in my trusty Vibrams and my foot felt fine! Not even gonna bother logging this, it was just a test run. Gonna try 3 or 4 miles tomorrow, maybe more depending how my foot feels!

First "goal" completed!
Just testing out the “goal” feature of the Garmin website. I made one last week (the 29th) that had me running 6 times over the course of the week—my only rest day being Saturday. (This matched up with my half marathon training plan.) I like this little feature. It’s small, but I’d eventually like to have a whole page filled with these little yellow 100% bars. This...

[Pace: 8:23 min/mile] Not much to say for today’s run. Pretty straightforward, pleased with the pace. 4 miles is easyyyyyy. Edit: Oops, I’m an idiot. I used the heart rate monitor that came with my watch for the first time today. Took me about 15 minutes to figure out how to get it set up. My average HR was 170 bpm, max was 178. I’m not really sure what I should be looking...

Jan. 3, 2012 -- NEW 5K PR!
Wooo!!! This is even faster than the PR I set last week of 24:30! On that run, I felt like I was sprinting. On this run, I felt like I was gliding. I really didn’t feel like I was going that fast!  Maybe it’s because I bought these today? A pair of Brooks Connects.  Hmmm… Ran fast because of new shoes, or ran fast because I’m excited about the new shoes? Either...

wat.
I aggregated all of my run data from Fitocracy, Runkeeper, and Garmin since July 2011 and this is the result! All this in just 6 months! That’s the same as running from Gainesville (where I go to school) to Key Largo! And 47,000 = about 13 lbs of fat! (Assuming the calories Runkeeper tracks are accurate, which I’m sure they’re not.) Anyway, I’m totes motivated to...

Wow. I never thought 3 miles would ever be this hard! I ran really fast (for me) though. Definitely thought I was going to throw up the leftover slice of pizza I had for breakfast. [Pace: 7:45 min/mile] Anyway, can’t complain now! That pace is dank!

[Pace: 9:11 min/mile] First time I used the “workout” feature on my watch. I didn’t really like it because it wasn’t giving me my mile splits, but I’m sure there’s a way to have it show that, I just need to figure it out.  Kept a pretty steady pace throughout the entire run (about 9:10). Compare this with my run on Monday, where my pace spread from 8:30 to...

[Pace: 7:49 min/mile] Thins to note: By far my best pace for this distance Wind was at my back for the first half. That made for a fun surprise when I turned around! Oh yeah, and my 5k time was… 24:30!!! That’s a TWO MINUTE REDUCTION since the Turkey Trot on Thanksgiving! This is why I already LOVE my GPS watch! It let’s me see stuff like this!
